A late-night recreational vehicle fire in Surrey has claimed two lives, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
Emergency Response to 102 Avenue
Surrey emergency services were dispatched to a residential property on the 12200-block of 102 Avenue at approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, December 21. Upon arrival, crews discovered an RV fully engulfed in flames.
Surrey Police Service spokesperson Ian MacDonald confirmed the grim outcome. "Regrettably, two persons were found deceased inside the recreational vehicle," MacDonald stated.
Neighbouring Home Evacuated
The intensity of the fire posed a direct threat to a nearby residence, leading to its precautionary evacuation. MacDonald confirmed that the occupants of that home were unharmed in the incident.
Both the Surrey Police Service (SPS) and Surrey Fire Services have launched a joint investigation into the cause and circumstances of the deadly fire. The investigation was set to begin in earnest on Monday.

This tragic event follows another serious RV fire in British Columbia earlier this month. On December 9, the occupant of an RV parked on a rural road in Nanaimo sustained serious injuries in a fire, highlighting potential safety concerns for those living in such vehicles.
