The Toronto Blue Jays have been ranked among the top organizations in Major League Baseball, according to a poll of 100 players conducted by The Athletic. The Blue Jays placed fourth, receiving 16 votes, trailing only the Los Angeles Dodgers (59 votes), New York Yankees (38 votes), and Chicago Cubs (28 votes). The poll surveyed players from 23 different teams and assessed organizational reputation across the league.
What Players Said About the Blue Jays
Players cited the Blue Jays' state-of-the-art facilities, strong team culture, and commitment to player and family well-being. One player noted, “The facilities in Toronto are crazy good. For me, where I’ve played … there’s nowhere close to Toronto when it comes to that.” Another added that the team’s “clubhouse has every bell and whistle,” and praised the organization for managing cross-border travel effectively: “I heard travel for them is good, especially considering you have to cross national borders.” A third player highlighted the winning culture: “I’ve been impressed with what they’re doing. They clearly want to win. Their facilities are great. And it seems like they have a good culture.”
Recent Improvements to Rogers Centre and Spring Training
The Blue Jays have invested heavily in upgrades in recent years. Rogers Centre underwent a massive renovation to enhance the experience for fans, players, and their families. Millions of dollars have also been poured into the team’s Spring Training facility in Dunedin, Florida, which has been used as a selling point to attract free agents like Shohei Ohtani. The locker room now features all necessary amenities, while the weight room and training facilities incorporate proprietary, state-of-the-art technology. Players’ families are well cared for, and the club’s positive culture is evident on social media, with teammates and families frequently gathering for off-season and off-day events.
Worst Reputation: Colorado Rockies Top the List
On the opposite end, the Colorado Rockies were named the organization with the worst reputation, receiving 28 votes from 73 respondents. The Pittsburgh Pirates followed with 23 votes, while the Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox tied at 21 votes each. Players attributed poor reputations to cost-cutting, with one player responding, “Which are the ones that are cheap as f***?” Of the 30 MLB teams, 20 received negative votes, but the Blue Jays were not among them.
