Ottawa Senators forward Dylan Cozens is expected to represent Canada at the 2026 World Championships in Switzerland, according to TSN's Darren Dreger. Dreger reported a 'strong possibility' that Cozens will join the national team for the tournament scheduled from May 15 to 31.
Cozens' International Experience
This would be Cozens' third appearance at the World Championships. He previously earned a silver medal with Canada in 2022, finishing third in tournament scoring with 13 points (seven goals, six assists) and scoring in the gold medal game against Finland.
2025-26 Season Performance
The 25-year-old forward had a solid season with the Senators, recording 59 points (28 goals, 31 assists) in 82 regular-season games while leading the team in hits. In the playoffs, Cozens scored two of Ottawa's five goals during a first-round sweep by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Team Canada Roster Additions
Cozens would join an impressive group of forwards already committed to Canada, including Macklin Celebrini (San Jose Sharks), Mark Scheifele (Winnipeg Jets), Mathew Barzal (New York Islanders), and Gavin McKenna, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2026 NHL draft.
Other Senators Considerations
Ottawa defenseman Jordan Spence was in discussions with Hockey Canada but declined the invitation due to his restricted free agent status and desire to avoid injury risk. Senators stars Tim Stutzle (Germany) and Brady Tkachuk (United States) have both confirmed they will not participate, having competed in the Milano-Cortina Olympics in February.
Tournament Format
Canada will compete in Group B at the World Championships, facing Denmark, Italy, Slovakia, Sweden, Czechia, Norway, and Slovenia in the preliminary round. Hockey Canada has not yet officially confirmed Cozens' addition to the roster.
