Minuteman Press Owners Achieve President's Club in Abbotsford

Kerri and Mark Brandon, owners of the Minuteman Press franchise in Abbotsford, British Columbia, have been awarded the prestigious President's Club Award. The couple purchased the underperforming location in 2013 and transformed it into a thriving business through strategic investments in marketing, community building, and a steadfast commitment to customer service. Their journey to this milestone highlights the power of hard work, adaptability, and investing in people and growth opportunities.

A Milestone Achieved

When asked what the President's Club means to them, Kerri Brandon stated, “It means so much to us to have achieved this milestone. When we first bought the business in 2013, it was a location that had been underperforming for some time, and the thought of reaching this milestone seemed very daunting if not impossible. We’ve worked really hard over the years to grow a business by focusing on great customer service and offering quality products. We truly feel that joining the President’s Club is the reward for all our hard work and perseverance.”

Keys to Sales Growth and Success

The Brandons attribute their success to several key strategies. According to Kerri, the Minuteman Press Internet Marketing Program has been the largest contributor to their growth. Diversifying their offerings has also been a game-changer. When they took over, the shop only offered digital and offset print. They have since added large format printing, signage, apparel, and promotional products. Additionally, expanding in-house capabilities through new equipment has allowed them to maintain better control over quality and timelines.

Marketing Strategies

Their marketing approach includes leveraging the Minuteman Press Internet Marketing Program, direct marketing, follow-ups with current customers, and community sponsorships. These efforts have helped them build a strong local presence and attract new clients.

High-Demand Products and Growth Areas

Large format products and signage have been a key growth area. The addition of a lift truck has expanded their capabilities in signage and installation, allowing them to offer a wider range of services. They have also assisted other Minuteman Press locations with installations. Promotional products have become a growing part of their business, thanks to resources from Mike Jutt and Brendan Reilly.

Background Before Minuteman Press

Neither Kerri nor Mark had a print background before buying the franchise in May 2013. Mark had been an operations manager for a car rental company for over 20 years, while Kerri had extensive experience in customer service and administration. They had always wanted to own their own business and were introduced to Minuteman Press at a franchise show in 2012 by Western Canada RVP Neil MacLeod. Kerri recalled, “Neil welcomed us to the Minuteman Press booth and said, ‘Even if you decide not to buy a franchise from us, maybe we can win your future printing business.’ After looking into many different business opportunities, the treatment we received from Neil and the Minuteman Press Team made us feel like we would be joining a supportive and reliable franchise, and it turns out we were right!”
