CNN pundit Adam Mockler directly confronted Geraldo Rivera on Piers Morgan's show Monday night, demanding to know why the veteran newsman had called him a "dick." The confrontation stemmed from a previous incident where Mockler went viral after fellow CNN panelist Scott Jennings snapped at him during a discussion about the Iran war.
The Original Incident
Last week, on "CNN NewsNight," Jennings reacted angrily when Mockler raised his hand while making a point. "Get your fucking hand out of my face," Jennings shouted, avoiding Mockler's question about political concessions from Iran. Rivera, also on the panel, later defended Jennings on NewsNation, calling Mockler a "kid" and a "dick."
Mockler's Response
On "Piers Morgan Uncensored," Mockler addressed the insult directly. "It's not being a dick to try to force a critical question and force the conversation where the American people want it," he said. He noted that Jennings had mocked his bedtime earlier and questioned why his decorum was being scrutinized while Jennings faced no consequences for lying repeatedly.
Mockler rejected Rivera's suggestion that he needed life experience, pointing out that despite their age difference, they appear on the same panels. "You have a whole life of experience, and you're on the same panels as me... So, life experience — what has it gotten you? I don't know."
Rivera's Defense
Rivera retorted that he has won 10 Emmys in a 56-year career. Mockler clapped back, "And now you're on the same panels as everyone else." Rivera then advised Mockler not to be a "wise-ass," while admitting that Mockler had made good points during the Jennings segment. "The problem is that you can be very obnoxious in your presentation," Rivera said, before acknowledging that obnoxiousness can sometimes lead to a career.
Mockler pushed back, calling Rivera's complaint "indicative of the double standards we see throughout the media." The exchange highlighted ongoing tensions about media decorum and generational differences in political discourse.
