York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was shot at a Vaughan nightclub early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. at a club near Steeles Avenue and Scholes Road. Police say an altercation inside led to a female suspect being removed by security; two male suspects then confronted security, and one brandished a firearm, firing and striking an adult male patron. The suspects fled on foot, firing additional rounds toward the club. No other patrons were injured. The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Drugs Seized in Thunder Bay
In a separate investigation, two GTA residents face charges after a drug-trafficking probe in Thunder Bay. The Ontario Provincial Police's Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team, including members from Thunder Bay Police and Nishnawbe Aski Police, conducted an intelligence-led investigation in June. They believed illicit drugs were transported into Thunder Bay by bus from the GTA. On June 23, a search warrant was executed at a motel in Thunder Bay, and a vehicle stop was conducted near Dryden. Officers seized 1.1 kg of suspected crack cocaine, 500 grams of suspected cocaine, $770 Canadian and $300 US cash, with a total estimated street value of $282,000. Dwight John, 29, of York, was charged with breach of probation and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. Deshawn Yarde, 29, of Mississauga, was charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. The investigation continues.
Youth Charged in E-Bike Incident in Georgina
York Regional Police also reported that a male youth was charged with dangerous operation of an e-bike after a passenger was injured in May. On May 29, officers patrolling near Wexford Drive and Carrick Avenue in Georgina approached a motorist who reported an e-bike carrying two riders traveling at high speed, with at least one not wearing a helmet. Officers later located the e-bike near The Queensway South and Morton Avenue; the riders were seen going through a red light and nearly struck by a vehicle. While being operated dangerously on a sidewalk, the e-bike hit a bump, causing the rear passenger—a female youth—to fall, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. The driver fled. Following a lengthy investigation, the driver, a male youth from Georgina, was charged on Friday with dangerous operation causing bodily harm, failure to stop after an accident, and flight from a peace officer. Tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
