Calgary Firefighters Contain Two-Alarm Blaze in High Winds

Calgary fire crews successfully contained a two-alarm fire in the southeast community of Mahogany to a single home on Friday morning, despite wind gusts reaching 80 km/h. The blaze broke out shortly after 11 a.m. on the 0-100 block of Mahogany Square SE, prompting a rapid response from the Calgary Fire Department.

Fire Response and Containment

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and visible flames. They quickly stretched multiple hand lines and began applying water to knock back the fire while ladder trucks prepared to set up water towers, according to a statement from the Calgary Fire Department. Two water towers were deployed and used in combination with hose lines to extinguish the fire, which had burned through the roof of the source home.

No Injuries Reported

No injuries were reported in the incident. The source home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. As a precaution, fire crews evacuated neighbouring homes, but all nearby residences were able to re-occupy after the fire was extinguished.
