Three individuals have been arrested and charged following coordinated police raids in North Bay and Coniston that resulted in the seizure of approximately $197,000 in illegal drugs and luxury watches worth an estimated $180,000.
Joint operation yields significant haul
The bust was the result of a joint operation between the North Bay Police Service and the Greater Sudbury Police Service. Officers executed search warrants at multiple locations, uncovering a substantial quantity of drugs including cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, along with high-end timepieces.
“This seizure represents a major disruption to the illegal drug trade in our communities,” said North Bay Police Chief Scott Tod in a statement. “The combination of drugs and luxury goods indicates organized criminal activity.”
Charges laid against three suspects
The three accused individuals face multiple charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Their names have been released pending their first court appearance.
Police did not specify the exact breakdown of the drug types seized but noted the total street value was estimated at $197,000. The watches, including brands such as Rolex and Omega, were valued at $180,000.
Impact on community safety
Authorities emphasized that such seizures help reduce violence and addiction tied to the drug trade. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be laid.
