Las Vegas Hotels' 'At Par' Offer Draws 15,000 Canadian Visitors in One Month
Vegas 'At Par' Offer Lures 15,000 Canadian Visitors Monthly

While the January polar vortex may have driven many Canadians to seek warmer climates, the CEO of three downtown Las Vegas hotels is crediting a targeted promotional offer for a significant influx of visitors from the north. Derek Stevens, who oversees Circa Resort and Casino, the D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, announced that an estimated 15,000 Canadians took advantage of the "at par" pricing initiative in its first 30 days.

A Strategic Response to Declining Tourism

The "at par" offer, which runs until August 31, was specifically designed to attract Canadian tourists back to Sin City. This move comes in response to a notable drop in visitors from Canada, partly attributed to political tensions and policies under the U.S. administration. Recent data from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority shows a 5.2% decline in overall visitors in November 2025 compared to the previous year, with challenges in drawing Canadians cited as a key factor.

How the Promotion Works

Canadian visitors with valid ID can book hotel rooms at the three properties, with rates automatically adjusted to match the Canadian dollar's value at check-in. Additionally, the promotion extends to gaming and bar services:

  • Gamblers can redeem up to $500 in casino play at par.
  • Select bars at the hotels offer drinks at par pricing.

This is a significant benefit, given the current exchange rate of US$1 to $1.37 Canadian.

Boosting Engagement with Canadian Culture

In a social media update, Stevens emphasized his commitment to Canadian guests, stating, "I wanted to make sure Canadians knew they have some friends out here in the desert." To further entice visitors, the hotel group is hosting events featuring Canadian artists:

  • A free show by Burlington's Finger Eleven in June on Fremont Street.
  • A ticketed performance by B.C.'s DJ Excision in April, with tickets available at par for Canadians.

Immediate Impact and Future Prospects

The promotion has already yielded impressive results, with over 2,700 hotel room bookings recorded since its launch. Stevens described the turnout as "terrific" in a post on X, highlighting the success of the campaign. As the offer continues through the summer, it aims to sustain this momentum and counteract the broader decline in Canadian tourism to Las Vegas.

This initiative not only provides financial incentives for travelers but also fosters a sense of community and appreciation for Canadian visitors, potentially setting a precedent for other destinations seeking to boost international tourism amid economic and political headwinds.
